UV Absorbers

Mayzo provides a variety of UV absorbers, which are useful to protect adhesives, plastics, coatings, and elastomers from the damaging effects of outdoor weathering that result from exposure to ultraviolet light. As their name implies, these additives function by competitive absorption of damaging UV light. Combinations of UV absorbers with other kinds of light stabilizers (for example hindered amine light stabilizers, or HALS) are often used in order to attain the best resistance to weathering.

BLS 234
   Solid, high molecular weight benzotriazole UV absorber with very low volatility
   Recommended for use in engineering plastics processed at high
     temperatures such as polycarbonate
   Excellent choice for content protection when used in PET packaging
   FDA-cleared* for use in polycarbonate and PET in food contact applications
   Useful in coatings cured at high temperatures (e.g. coil & powder coatings),
     especially in combination with hindered amine light stabilizers such as BLS 292

BLS 1326
   Solid benzotriazole UV absorber with slightly red shifted UV absorbance
     vs. other products
   Useful for the stabilization of polyolefins and other plastics
   FDA-cleared* for use in olefin polymers in food contact applications

BLS 5411
   Solid benzotriazole UV absorber
   Higher molecular weight, less volatile alternative to BLS® 1710
   Useful for light stabilization of polycarbonate (especially extrusion grades),
     acrylics, styrenic polymers, rigid PVC, and unsaturated polyesters
   FDA-cleared* for use in polycarbonate in food contact applications

   Solid benzophenone UV absorber useful for the light stabilization
     of polyethylene, flexible PVC, unsaturated polyesters, and industrial coatings
   FDA-cleared* for use in olefin polymers in food contact applications

BLS 1328
   Solid benzotriazole UV absorber for general purpose use as a light stabilizer
     in adhesives, plastics, coatings, and elastomers
   FDA-cleared* for use in adhesives in food contact applications

   Solid benzotriazole UV absorber useful for the light stabilization
     of acrylics, styrenic polymers, rigid PVC, and unsaturated polyesters
