Non–Silicone Release Coatings
Mayzo provides a variety of non-silicone based release coatings for packaging
tape, heat transfer tape, and protective film.
Solvent-based Release Coatings
Escoat P-20 & Escoat P-30 Solids are powdered forms of polyvinyl octadecyl carbamates (PVODC). They are especially produced and widely used as the industry standard for pressure sensitive labels, film, and tapes. They offer a high degree of purity, quality and a very tight melting point range (± 3 ° C) for superior properties and performance to critical users. Both products are cost efficient with lower usage requirements than silicone release coatings. They offer the additional benefits of not requiring a high processing temperature and the release effects remain stable after oven aging.
Escoat P-20 Liquid is a liquid-version of polyvinyl octadecyl carbamate (PVODC) supplied at a 10% solids concentration in toluene. Escoat P-20 Liquid has the benefit of having pre-dissolved solids in the toluene for reduced time at the use point, less waste, and mixing accuracy. All the benefits of the Escoat P-20 Solids are also realized.
RA-10 Series Release Coating is a liquid polyvinyl octadecyl carbamate (PVODC) supplied at 1% (RA-10A), 3% (RA-10B), and 5% (RA-10C) solids concentrations in toluene. They are especially suited for printers of pressure sensitive labels, film, and tapes including polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyester where appropriate release is needed. The RA10 Series Release Coats are ready for use without additional dilution or additives. The RA-10 Series Release Coats are compatible with Mayzo’s EPX-2 Primer.
RA-70A Release Coating is a liquid polyvinyl stearyl carbamate (PVSC) supplied at 1.5% solids concentration in a heptane blend solvent system. RA-70A is designed for printers of pressure sensitive labels, film, and tapes including polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyester. The heptane blend system is for use when toluene (a HAP) cannot be used.
Water-based Release Coatings
RA-110W Release Coating is a fluoro-acrylate emulsion, which provides superior release characteristics when applied to many film types including polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyester. This fluorochemical release coat can also be coated onto metallized foil and paper substrates. RA-110W offers a smooth and low noise level release. It can withstand temperatures up to 350 °F without diffusion into the adhesive.
RA-120W Release Coating is a fluoro-phosphate ester release coat used to provide release characteristics in paper and paperboard products. This fluorochemical release coat is ideal for use on pressure sensitive tapes and labels as well as other substrates requiring release. It is printable using conventional flexographic inks and will accept normal ballpoint and marker inks. It is compliant with FDA 176.170 for materials in direct contact with food items.
RA-130W Release Coating is a urethane/acrylic (hybrid) emulsion, which provides superior release characteristics when applied to polyethylene and polyester films. RA-130W has a strong wetting and adhesion performance with PET and corona treated PE substrates. RA-130W is also useful for duct tape and other tapes where an aqueous coating is needed. It has a benefit of offering an easy peel release, low temperature curing, and a glossy coating.
RA-150W Release Coating is a aliphatic modified polyurethane aqueous dispersion, which provides a high quality release coating developed for pressure sensitive adhesive tapes for controlled release. It adheres well to polyester and corona or flame treated polyolefins. It provides excellent release, even in high humidity environments, with rubber, solvent acrylic, and hot-melt adhesives. RA-150W is compatible with all standard adhesive systems.
RA-668W Release Coating is a polyester acrylic used to provide release characteristics in paper and film products. It is ideal for use on pressure sensitive tapes and labels as well as other substrates requiring release. It is printable using conventional flexographic inks and will accept normal ballpoint, marker inks, and jet printer inks. The RA-668W is composed of ingredients that are in compliance with FDA for direct and indirect food contact.
Escoat WPM Series Release Coating is a polyvinyl acetate/acrylate copolymer emulsion which provides an extremely low adhesion-to-backing (ATB) and unwind values. Escoat WPM is designed for aggressive natural rubber, hot melt, or solvent SIS adhesives. Designed for release coatings on crepe kraft tapes, Escoat WPM coatings also have a strong wetting and adhesion performance with PET. Escoat WPM is useful for general-purpose tapes where an aqueous coating is needed. With peel values as low as with many all silicone coatings. Escoat WPM coatings provide a good non-migrating alternative to the silicone treatments. By blending Escoat WPM coating with other Escoat WPM products, a variety of peel/ATB values can be achieved.
Escoat WFX Series Release Coating is acrylic based emulsion, which provides consistent release characteristics for tape and label products. Escoat WFX Series has a consistent wetting and adhesion performance with PET and corona treated PE substrates. Escoat WFX can be used on masking tape and other tapes where an aqueous coating is needed. It offers the benefit of being inkjet and print receptive.
Escoat WPX Series Release Coating is a polysaccharide (carbohydrate polymer) emulsion that provides a moderate release performance that is writeable and inkjet printable. Escoat WPX coatings give a consistent release performance for various tape and label products, specifically bond paper, postal readdress labels, “Post-It” type packs for give away, coupons, prescription pads, and such. The unique balance of release performance and inkjet receptivity is unmatched in release coat technology. Variations of Escoat WPX are available for lower peel performance in the new “super sticky” type label pads.
